How to hide the mouse cursor in X11/Xorg

Why does the following X11/Xorg code not hide the mouse cursor under Ubuntu 18.04? If this is not the way to do it what is? Is there some missing dependency/library/.dev package? My intuition says this may be a bug in Ubuntu's (or Debian) X11/Xorg packages or some such. This is how HaXe/Kha does Mouse hiding in order to be compatible across platforms.#include <iostream>#include <X11/X.h>#include <X11/Xlib.h>#include <X11/keysym.h>#include <X11/Xutil.h>#include <X11/Xos.h>#include <string>#include <iostream>Window window;void sh...

How do I download an file(image) in a folder on my Ubuntu server?

I have some files (images) in a folder on my Ubuntu server. I want a link like http://ip...../image.png. Is there a way to do this? I have the server's IP address. All directions and solutions are highly appreciated. If you want to be able to access the files over HTTP then you need to setup a webserver. If you want to simply download the files really quick, the fastest way is to go into the directory you want to download and run python3 -m http.serverThis will make your files accessible at http://ip_of_server:8080/.If you however intend to make the files accessible for a...

random 502 gateway errors with nginx php-fpm and ubuntu

I was having an issue with random 502 gateway errors using nginx and php-fpm. In my case I discovered a scenario where various php.ini error_log settings and error_reporting levels were causing the random 502 gateway errors to appear.By changing the php.ini settings error_reporting and error_log I was able to make the 502 gateway errors disappear - but more importantly I was able to see what the real php errors were in the log and fix them. The main issue was that if "error_reporting was set to display notices, "error_logging = On" then I needed make sure that error_log was ...

Can't open IntelliJ in terminal, Ubuntu Linux 16.04

I've successfully installed IntelliJ IDEA (community edition) and Java (Version 10.0.2) on my Ubuntu Linux 16.04. However, I want to be able to open files on the terminal (similar to being able to use 'code .' to open files in VS Code).I did some research, and it says you need to open IntelliJ, go to "tools", and there will be an option that says "create command-line Launcher". However, when I go there, that option isn't present. The really strange thing is that if I go to settings -> menus and toolbars -> main menu -> tools, the "command-line launcher" function IS prese...

postfix re-processing of spool - ubuntu

This is not technically a programming question but perhaps someone can help me. Yes, it's totally off topic, but i'm desperate for help as I'm no expert at this type of thing. We had a problem on our mail server over the weekend and upon updating postfix, i noticed that mail was no longer being delivered to the /home/$user/Maildir/ as defined by the alias map. We have now fixed that, and mail is getting delivered, but previous mail that was not being delivered to mailboxes was stacking up in the spool in /var/mail as flat files containing email data.I would like to get postf...

How can I pass a string comprised of an ASCII character repeated 'n' times as a command line argument to a simple c program?

Greetings Stack exchange. I am learning about buffer overflow exploits. As is customary for beginners, I am working from a very simple 'C' program that uses an unsafe, non-validating function, such as gets(), to fill a fixed length declared buffer with a string commandline argument stored in argv[]. For context, the program follows:#include <stdio.h>#include <string.h>#include <stdlib.h>int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ char buffer[512]; if (argc < 2) { printf("Please feed the buffer :D"); exit(0); } strcpy(buffer, argv[1]);...
