After using deploying my .NET Core 2.1 App to my server, I get the following error when I access the page: HTTP Error 502.5 - Process FailureFollowing Microsoft's always helpful link on the same page (cough cough), I checked the Event View Log and it states: Application 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/BLAH.COM' with physical root 'D:\inetpub\vhosts\BLAH.com\httpdocs\' failed to start process with commandline 'dotnet .\blah.dll', ErrorCode = '0x80070002 : 0.The message was not only unhelpful, but completely irrelevant. Does QNetworkManager get accept compressed replies by default?

I am using QNetworkManager to fetch files from a server, however what I cannot figure out is if the files are compressed during the transfer with the standard gzip compression and if not how to get them to download compressed. How would I go about checking? I just ran a quick test by adding:request.setRawHeader("Accept-Encoding", "gzip, deflate");to the QNetworkRequest and the data returns what look compressed (because its ~20% smaller and unusable). It appears that the QNetworkManager and the QNetworkReply are not intelligent as far as decompression is concerned. It looks...

I published my ASP.NET Core app to a local IIS server but it's not up to date. What happened?

It's showing an old version of the app that I'd previously published, and it's failing to connect to the database. I didn't get any errors when publishing. The files such as site.css are up to date on the filesystem but they're not appearing in my browser properly, and the database connection is broken. I tried clearing my cache, deleting the old files, and restarting the app pool to no avail. What happened? How can I get the latest version of my app running under IIS? What I normally try & do to troubleshoot issues like this is to break everything down into smaller ...

IIS email blocked by anti virus

I have being having trouble with the web server used for our intranet. It has some antivirus software on it that stops mass emailing. So I wrote a quick C# winforms app, ran it on the server to try and send an email, and it failed. It was being blocked by antivirus on the server, I added the exe to the allowed list and it worked fine. I tried adding the service inetinfo.exe, which is the only one I could see related to IIS, and it doesn't seem to enable the emailing.Would asp.net code send the email under a different exe name? I have seen a reference to aspnet_wp.exe. AS...

Is there a way to always require or force the 'www' subdomain on a site?

I want to prevent users from going to say example.com and only go to www.example.com, we are using IIS 6. So say they go to example.com it could tack on the www.example.com, etc.Is this a setting somewhere or will I have to code it to check for the subdomain when they land and redirect accordingly?EDIT: I know the best way is to move away from the www prefix but for whatever reason if the user launches a course (this is an LMS) without the www in the URL the tracking does not work for the .asmx file, that is why I am trying to force the 'www' because if some people don't ha...

Custom authentication at the URL level, use ISAPI still with .NET or is there a new way?

Is there a non-IIS way of authenticating users that is not with HTML?I know I can create my own ISAPI filter for IIS, but I want to achieve the same thing, with .NET code and not integrate it with IIS.Is there a way to do this now, with the latest .NET, or is ISAPI still the way to go? If you want to apply your custom authentication for all contents, an ISAPI extension is required for IIS 5/6/7.Greg's way only works for ASP.NET content on IIS 5/6. However, if you understand the Integrated Pipeline feature of IIS 7 well, you can configure an ASP.NET HTTP module like Greg'...
